Project Summary
For the Hoover Institution’s Stanford Emerging Technology Review, I created motion graphics, visual effects, technical animations, and AI-assisted visual assets designed to make complex emerging technologies understandable, cinematic, and visually engaging.
The project covered subjects including quantum computing, quantum sensing, cryptography, blockchain, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and U.S. technological leadership.
Rather than relying on generic “futuristic technology” imagery, much of the work involved developing visual metaphors and technical concepts that directly supported the ideas being discussed. This includes quantum sensors scanning terrain for hidden landmines to animated cryptographic networks, holographic maps, algorithm interfaces, and quantum computing hardware.
Across the project, I combined traditional motion-design workflows in Adobe After Effects with generative tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, Veo, and Seedance, creating and refining more than 100 custom visual assets for production.
Process
Each sequence began with the narration, storyboard, or existing creative direction. I identified the central idea being communicated and developed imagery that could reinforce it visually without overwhelming the information.
Because the subject matter was highly technical, visual development often involved translating concepts like quantum sensing, encryption, algorithms, national infrastructure, and information networks into understandable visual metaphors.
A recurring visual language emerged across the project: dark technical environments illuminated by blue-violet holograms, emissive wireframes, projected light, blueprint grids, energy paths, data overlays, and futuristic HUD elements.
These elements helped unify otherwise very different subjects while giving the series a sophisticated emerging-technology aesthetic.
